Terms of Service

Last updated: 1 July 2026

These terms govern your use of deathlessons.org (the "Service"), operated by Manresa Associates Ltd (company no. 14718901), registered office 18 Heron Drive, London N4 2FX ("we", "us"). By using the Service or buying a paid product you agree to these terms.

1. The free search service

The public full-text search is provided free of charge, "as is" and "as available". We may change, suspend or withdraw it at any time.

2. Source of the data

The Service indexes Prevention of Future Death (PFD) reports published by the Courts and Tribunals Judiciary at judiciary.uk. Those reports are public records (© Crown copyright). Our products are the cleaned, OCR'd, de-duplicated and metadata-tagged compilation of that public data — you are paying for that value-add, not for the underlying records.

3. Paid services

  • Bulk dataset — a one-off purchase granting you a non-exclusive licence to use the dataset for your own research and analysis. You may publish findings derived from it. You may not resell or publicly redistribute the dataset itself as a substitute for the Service.
  • Saved-query alerts — a recurring subscription. You may cancel at any time via the billing portal; access continues until the end of the paid period.
  • Bespoke reports — custom analysis delivered against a scope and fixed quote agreed in advance and invoiced via Stripe.

4. Payments

Prices are in GBP and payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your card details. You are responsible for any taxes applicable to you.

5. Cancellation & refunds

For digital content (the dataset), you have a statutory 14-day right to cancel — but by choosing to download immediately you consent to supply beginning at once and acknowledge that you lose that right once the download starts. Subscriptions can be cancelled at any time and are not refunded for the current period. Nothing here affects your non-excludable statutory rights. If something isn't as described, contact us and we'll put it right.

6. Acceptable use

Don't use the Service unlawfully, don't attempt to disrupt or overload it, and don't use automated means to bulk-download beyond what a paid dataset licence permits.

7. Accuracy & no warranty

The data is derived from third-party public records and automated processing (including OCR), so it may contain errors, omissions or inconsistencies. It is provided for research and information only, is not a substitute for the official records, and must not be relied upon as the sole basis for any clinical, legal or other decision. We do not warrant that it is accurate, complete or up to date.

8. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss arising from your reliance on the data. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).

9. Changes

We may update these terms; the "last updated" date shows when. Continued use means you accept the current version.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
